According to the Associated Press, the State Department is finally going to start allowing help from other countries (read HERE) in dealing with the oil spill.

If it took the Bush Administration 70 days to accept help from other countries for the Katrina disaster, do you think the media would just sit around and not make a big deal out of it?

If this pipe spewed oil for 70 days in the Gulf of Mexico during the Bush Administration and he did absolutely nothing to stop it, how do you think the media would react?

I wish I could say that I can’t believe the media’s lack of outrage at the administration’s ineptness regarding their response to this disaster, but it’s not only believable, it’s what is expected.

It’s sad that our media doesn’t work well.  As long as it’s centered in NY and D.C. it won’t work well.  But at least we can say it’s better than it once was.

Hopefully these other countries have their shit together better than we do…

For a long time I’ve been trying to think of a good conspiracy theory to spread, to see if I can get the fools of the world to believe something that is total nonsense (that I came up with).  I’m consistently shocked at how many people believe that we’ve found the cure to cancer, but the drug companies keep it hidden, or that we’ve got a carburetor that gets 200mpg but the oil companies bought it out.  There’s actually a lot of people with PhD’s that believe that George Bush shot a missile at the Pentagon and blew up the Twin Towers with explosives.

It’s amazing what people will believe.

So I’ve come up with one that I think is a pretty good one.  Here it goes:

Obama paid Hugo Chavez to blow up the pipe in the Gulf.  Obama gains the political capital to push his environmental agenda and Chavez gains $$$ by the increase in the price of oil.

As with any good conspiracy theory it’s the little guys that are getting screwed over.

Now when you tell this conspiracy theory to someone, and they tell you you’re crazy, just say:

“But look all that Obama has to gain by the green companies who are paying him off.”

“But you know Chavez wants the price of oil to rise and to pollute the American beaches.”

“If it wasn’t true, Obama would have put a cone over the spill and stopped it right away.”

That should be enough to convince the foolish.

Now go spread it around the world and let’s see if it catches on…

Latest Real Clear Politics Right/Wrong Direction average:

…has been denying its citizens the right to own a handgun for the last 28 years.  After D.C. vs. Heller, & McDonald vs. Chicago, that will no longer be the case. You can read a pretty cool article about 76 year-old Otis McDonald in the Chicago Tribune HERE.

I’m going to read the McDonald decision soon to see if the dissenters thought that the 2nd Amendment didn’t apply to citizens outside of militias like they did in the Heller case.  I’ll then blog about what I read.

If the court was 5-4 the other way, our right to bear arms would have ended with the Heller case.  Thank God that didn’t happen.  I’m not ready for our country to split up yet.
